    The Vermilion Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club hosted their 3rd Annual Snowmobile Drag Races in conjunction with Straightline Snowmobile Racing Associate at the Vermilion Airport on February 19. Sixty-five racers from all over Alberta and as far away as Ontario brought 82 machines and enjoyed the day of racing excitement.     Vermilion Curling Club Hosts Open Bonspiel

    Family Day weekend saw the Vermilion Curling Club hosting an Open Bonspiel. Eighteen teams with curlers of all ages came to compete for first place in three events. With a dinner from Mrs. J’s catering on Saturday evening, and raffle prizes up for grabs, the weekend provided curlers with some fun visits and excellent curling to participate in.     During the February 10 game, the Vermilion Tigers team presented coach Ryan Earl with the coach of the year award voted by the North Eastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League (NEAJBHL).     The Remax Prairie Realty Curling Superleague was finally able to crown a champion January 25 for the first time in two years.
