Big Smiles At Little Royal

Lakeland College’s Vermilion Campus hosted the Little Royal Rodeo in combination with Ag-citing Information Sessions from March 9 – 11.

Prospective students and their families were thrilled to see first-hand the opportunities available through Human Services, Interior Design, and Agricultural Sciences programs. Staff provided helpful hints, and people got the opportunity to ask current students questions about their experiences.

“I attended the Ag-citing Event last year, and highly recommend it because it doesn’t just show off the facilities, but all the extra things that Lakeland College offers; most notably, hands-on experience,” said first year AST student, Janelle Youst.

Ambassador for the Early Learning and Child Care Program, Karley Heisler, is working on her last practicum for her diploma. She pointed out that growing up her mother had always babysat and she had taught dance for years, so she always knew that she wanted to work with children. Heisler assisted prospective students in pointing out additional opportunities available in the community, and the prospective students responded with excitement.

Little Royal Rodeo was accompanied by a dance, and specialty club demonstrations. Throughout the weekend, people enjoyed a Western Canadian Judging Competition, dog agility and stock dog demonstrations, a tractor club race, and a steer and heifer show.

“Thanks to everyone for coming out to watch the ranch sorting and ranch doctoring,” said Ron Hoffman, Western Ranch and Cow Horse Instructor.
