In a commitment to advancing healthcare education, the Islay Health Centre Auxiliary Society has awarded its annual $1,000 bursary to Pamela Brodbin, originally from the Islay area, but currently living in the Clandonald area. This award is presented each year to an individual accepted into a post-secondary health-related course of study, residing within the County of Vermilion River (excluding the Towns of Vermilion, Marwayne, or Kitscoty).

Brodbin, a dedicated stay-at-home mom of three, received the bursary in October, marking a pivotal moment in her pursuit of education. Currently enrolled in the medical laboratory assistant program at Thompson River University, Brodbin embodies the spirit of resilience and determination.

The Islay Health Centre Auxiliary Society, known for its unwavering support of aspiring healthcare professionals, requires recipients to provide proof of enrollment in their chosen institution upon being granted the bursary. This ensures that the financial support is directly channeled towards advancing their educational endeavors.

Expressing gratitude for the financial assistance, Brodbin shared, “I am a stay-at-home mom of 3, so we don’t have a lot of extra money floating around. That’s why I am taking this course to help our family financially. Receiving this bursary from the Auxiliary is reassuring; it ensures that I won’t be delayed in pursuing my next course, and it is already paid for. I truly appreciate that they chose me because it really makes a significant difference. I wasn’t aware of it until my sister-in-law, who works in healthcare, brought it to my attention, and I am really glad she did.”

The Islay Health Centre Auxiliary Society extends its congratulations to Pamela Brodbin and wishes her continued success in her educational journey and future contributions to the healthcare community.
