Town Council Update

Did you know that Vermilion’s Town Council meets bi-weekly and that you can watch meetings on the Town’s Youtube Channel?

This week’s meeting included the Quarterly Community Policing Report from our RCMP Detachment, presented by Sgt. Dunsmore. This was Sgt. Dunsmore’s first report as the Detachment’s Commander. The detachment at present has seven staffed police officer positions with two vacancies, and three support positions with one vacancy. Sgt. Dunsmore also discussed the priority areas of Crime Reduction, Enhanced Public Confidence and Engagement, and Enhanced Road Safety.

The Council voted to accept and authorize a proposal for the Town to begin negotiating with Digital Infrastructure Group for building a Broadband Network Connection for the Town.

The Parks, Recreation and Culture Committee received approval from Council to provide a $500 grant to the Vermilion/Clandonald 4-H Beef Interclub.
