Rain didn’t dampen the spirits at the 22nd Annual Lions-CNIB Golf Tournament held at the Vermilion Golf and Country Club on June 7.
For the first time ever, participants were unable to golf due to the wet conditions, but the remainder of the event carried on. Community members were supportive of the cause and helping to benefit those with vision loss, with an estimated $6,000 raised. There were 51 hole sponsors and additional prize sponsors.

Thirty-nine golfers participated in the 21st Annual Lions-CNIB Golf Tournament at the Vermilion Golf and Country Club on June 8.
Participants were challenged by a blind putt and blind drive, and had the opportunity to win a $10,000 hole-in-one prize. They also had the opportunity to try on glasses that simulate macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
“Last year I got one of my best drives blind folded,” said participant, Sam Stewart.
With beautiful weather in their favour the Vermilion Lions Club held their annual Walk for Dog Guides event in the picturesque beauty of the Vermilion Provincial Park on Sunday, May 27, as walkers and dogs were chomping at the bit to hit the trails in support of the cause.
