Cattle, crafts, and more will be highlighting the best efforts of the community as the Minburn and District Agricultural Society host their 24th Annual Heifer Show and Bench Fair on August 12.
The bench fair is open to all, and a $2 fee can purchase as many entries as you like.
There is a large selection of categories including canned and baked goods, clothing, photography, flowers, and grain. Senior categories include woodworking, art and wine and there are several youth divisions as well. Special prizes will be given for the best dessert in the area, the best slow cooked hungry-man chowder soup, bonus prizes for baking, and for children’s categories.
Noteworthy items to browse at the bench fair will be the bragging table and pioneer memories. Entries can be dropped off at the curling rink August 11, from 5 – 8 p.m. For more information on the bench fair, you can call Agricultural Society President, Teresa Jackson at 780-593-3742.
The Heifer Show will begin August 12, at 2:30 p.m. Show goers will have the opportunity to browse quality cattle including pens of three female calves, and pens of three yearling females. With agriculture rich in the area, the heifer show is expected to draw some prize animals. To register for the heifer show, you can call Eric Anderson at 780-593-2153.
