Cornerstone Co-op will be donating 5 cents from every litre of fuel sold on Fuel Good Day - September 19, to local 4-H divisions.

All grades of gasoline and diesel fuel from gas bars in Wainwright, Vermilion, and St. Paul will be included in the donation.

Co-op has served Vermilion for more than 80 years and now Cornerstone Co-op includes 30,000 members in Wainwright, Vermilion, Mannville, Dewberry, Elk Point, St. Paul and Provost.

Alberta celebrated 100 years of 4-H this year, and the Northeast 4-H Region was grateful to partner with Cornerstone Co-op in this fundraising event.

“Donations will be split up between about 30 clubs encompassing five districts in the area,” said Shelly Ann Dodgson, Northeast Region 4-H Specialist.

Vermilion alone has four clubs for beef, sheep, light horse, and Vermilion River Outdoor. The Clandonald Multi-club is included with those four in making up the 11 clubs that represent the Vermilion-Lloydminster District. These clubs offer children aged 9 - 21 a selection of public speaking experience along with agricultural, baking, survival, and special project education. Most clubs also have eager young children aged 6-8 who participate as cleaver members.

“The Fuel Good Day is happening all across Western Canada, and with the rural agricultural communities in our trading area, we felt 4-H was a good fit. As part of our ongoing commitment to community initiatives, we want to help the next generation of 4-H to become future leaders in our communities.

Tell your friends, family, neighbors, hairdresser, dentist – everyone to get down to the Co-op Gas Bar on Tuesday, September 19, to fill up and support 4H in your community,” said Cornerstone Co-op Operations Manager, Kory Kralkay.
