The Vermilion Soccer Association hosted the U15 Alberta Soccer Provincials from July 5 - 7 at the Vermilion Provincial Park. Families gathered to cheer on both girls and boys teams throughout the weekend. VSA President, Kristin Ward said, “I think it was a great opportunity for our teams, our families, and the Vermilion Soccer Association to actually showcase what Vermilion Soccer has to offer. The children have worked hard all season, and it was their opportunity to gather and share with other teams to celebrate grass roots soccer and what Tier IV soccer is all about! In Tier IV soccer, everyone gets a chance to participate, play and embrace what soccer is supposed to be!” Dolly Dalton, Vermilion’s U15 girls coach said, “We’ve had a really good season and have gotten stronger and stronger as the season went on. The fact that we hosted was huge for the girls and huge for the club; it’s a big deal and we’re excited! The more people playing football the better! We would also like to thank the community for coming out to support us.” The Vermilion U15 Boys coach, David Wilson said, “The boys have worked really hard and I am really happy with the effort I’ve seen and the commitment they’ve put in all year. I’d like to thank our president Kristen Ward, all of the parents for getting their kids here, and the town for keeping the fields in good shape.” In addition, the Vermilion U13 girls also competed in provincials in Leduc.
