This past weekend the Vermilion Ag Society hosted the Alberta Draft Horse Classic. The 3-day event provided attendees the opportunity to watch the elegance and beauty of the magnificent Percheron, Clydesdales and Belgian horse breeds in the halter and hitch classes, as well as the opportunity to enjoy a cold one from the Barley Bin, and feasts and treats from the food truck and ice cream truck.

On Friday, the day began with the gelding and Belgian line classes with the 4 horse hitch classes in the afternoon. On Saturday the Percheron and Clydesdale line classes were in the morning with the 6 hitch horse classes in the afternoon. Sunday featured youth line classes, show features such as Best Foal of the Show, Best Yearling of the Show, Best 2-year-old of the Show, Best 3-year-old and over, and the Supreme Champion. The event was judged by Randy Robertson from Ontario and Clay Corbiere was the Ringman for the event. ZD Pickering Farms won the Saturday 6 horse hitch class and Sunday the Mark Messenger Memorial hitch won. The Mark Messenger Memorial hitch is from Cheyenne Wyoming.
