The Friends of Vermilion Health Centre cash lottery wrapped up its annual draw on December 12, presenting Warren and Jody Teasdale with the top prize of $10,000. Ticket Coordinator Alison Betz handed over the cheque during the cheque presentation held at the Vermilion Health Centre.
Known for funding essential items for the local health facility, the Friends of Vermilion Health Centre cash lottery draws a crowd every year, offering participants a shot at monthly prizes and a grand jackpot.
The winning ticket, drawn by last year’s winner Gerald Martin, belonged to the Teasdale’s, who expressed their support for the cause, stating, “It’s a great cause to support, and we are happy to have won. We encourage everyone to support the Friends of Vermilion Health Centre.”
Ticket Coordinator, Arlene Felt acknowledged the community’s backing, noting, “We are thrilled to present this cheque to our grand prize winner here today. The revenue from these sales stays in our local hospital. We are currently updating the palliative care rooms and general use areas. We would like to congratulate both Warren and Jody and extend our thanks to everyone who supported our ticket sales this year, as we sold out.”
With the lottery funds set to contribute to the ongoing improvements at the health centre, the Friends of Vermilion Health Centre announced that the next round of raffle tickets is scheduled for launch in July 2024, offering another chance for community members to pitch in and compete for prizes. Donations to the Friends of Vermilion Health Centre can be accepted year-round at Fantasy Flowers, ScotiaBank, and the Vermilion Health Centre. If a donation is made in memory of a loved one there is a Memory Board located at the Health Centre in the admitting area that lists donors and donations.
