The Vermilion Ministerial Association held the 11th Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on March 16 at the Glad Tidings Pentecostal Assembly. Virtually held last year, the in-person event is meant to acknowledge the leadership role that not only the Mayor has taken on, but also the Town Councilors and School Board Trustees that serve the Vermilion area for both school divisions.

Master of Ceremonies Reverend Harvey Hussey reminded everyone that being a leader, “is a hard job, and sometimes you need a little backup.” and that is the intention of the Prayer Breakfast. It is a reminder to those who have taken on these sometimes tough leadership roles that they have support from all faiths in their journey over the next four years.

After greetings from Doreen McRoberts for MLA Garth Rowswell, a breakfast supplied by Mrs. J’s Catering was enjoyed while members of several of Vermilion’s Places of Worship spoke words of support and prayer for all leaders through these turbulent times.

Eight prayers were offered, providing strength words for Perseverance and Courage, Family, Unity, Clear Communication, Patience and Grace, Balance and Openness, Wisdom, Vision and Healing for Our Land.

Mayor Greg Throndson finished the program with a heartfelt thank you for the incredible support he and the Council have received so far in their tenure from the community.
