Town Council Update

A Regular Town Council Meeting was held on June 1, here are some of the highlights.

Council proclaimed June as Recreation and Parks Month.

There is no update from Municipal Affairs as of yet regarding the Intermunicipal Collaboration Framework (ICF) arbitration that needs to happen. The Ministry at present is drafting the municipal order required for arbitration to proceed.

Council voted and passed a motion to commit $2.4 million to finishing the Broadband Utility Network within the Town using Digital Infrastructure Group as the contractors. These monies will come from the town’s Municipal Sustainability Initiative Grants, thereby not coming from residents and their taxes.

The Vermilion River Watershed Restoration and Enhancement Project won the Shared Footprints Emerald Award on June 1. This is a project the Town is very proud to be a part of.
