Town Of Vermilion Holds Off On Street Light Assessment

Despite previous Town Council discussions around having a street light assessment study, the Town of Vermilion has decided to direct their attention to a few isolated spots.

The spots were brought to the attention of Council as citizens were concerned that the low light conditions would make it harder to see pedestrians.

“It was a smaller problem than we had first anticipated,” said Director of Transportation and Utilities, Derek Young.

The decision to focus on the isolated spots was made after evaluating the cost of the assessment, which would amount to approximately $2,500 to $5,000. The problem spots are being addressed internally by the Town of Vermilion and ATCO. According to Young, the Council will revisit the idea of a street light assessment study at a later date.
