The Lloydminster Community Youth Centre will soon be opening its doors at its new location in the former RCMP detachment building in Lloydminster.
The Lloydminster Community Youth Centre (LCYC) is a safe, fun and non-judgmental place where youth ages 12-18 can spend their evenings.
The LCYC opened in 1994 and had operated under many different names, but the goal of providing the youth with a safe place to go and be themselves has always remained the same.
“We have youth visits each month, and we strive to respond to their needs by providing engaging programs and services,” said Executive Director Angela Rooks-Trotzuk.
“We are excited to open soon at our new location now that our new renovations are complete.
The new facility is huge; it is triple the size of the old location.
The new space is very bright with lots of windows; we have new flooring and paint. We will have a homework room, a music room, a pool table, a fuse-ball table, a ping-pong table and we will have a smart TV so that we can watch Ted Talks and movies.
We have a canteen with a new kitchen where we can seat 40 people at one time,” said Rooks-Trotzuk.
“We will be having our grand opening with activities throughout the week of February 13 – 18, and there will be a public open house on Tuesday evening, February 14. Everyone is welcome,” she added.
