Upcoming Remembrance Day Ceremony

The Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held at the Vermilion Cenotaph on November 11, at 10:30 a.m. A parade will begin at the Legion at 10:45 a.m. on route to the Cenotaph, joining the public in giving reverence to those who in the line of duty, have served and continue to serve.

After the ceremony, visiting will commence at the Legion. A display will be set up for viewing the latest addition to the Snelgrove’s collection of Vimy memorabilia; a 3D replica of the crest carved underground at Vimy Ridge by Robert Snelgrove’s great uncle, Private Thomas Alban Snelgrove.

The Royal Canadian Legion’s Field Marshal Alexander Branch No. 11, who hosts the ceremony in Vermilion, will be conducting prior ceremonies on November 8, at Vermilion Elementary School at 9 a.m., St. Jerome’s School at 11 a.m., and J.R. Robson School at 1 p.m.

The Poppy Campaign is currently underway and contributes to a number of veteran causes and the Royal Canadian Legion assists in other areas including adjusting to civilian life, providing support for mental health and PTSD, assisting veterans at risk of homelessness, providing outreach and visitation initiatives; providing mobility supports, home adaptations, and independent living services for veterans.
