After the first Alan Jackson tribute show in 2018, local fans were eager to have the Alan Jackson Experience return to Vermilion. El Niven & The Alibi lit up the stage of the Vermilion Folk Club on February 23, at the Vermilion Legion.
Singer/guitarist, Elliott Niven, and drummer, Jeff Burwash, played a set of western/alternative/rock that included catchy originals and classic tunes. Originally from Calgary, the duo has toured the United Kingdom, Canada, and the southern United States for over 10 years. Liking the vibe, they now call Edmonton home, and continue to share their love of music with others.
The Royal Canadian Legion’s Field Marshal Alexander Branch # 11 held an Installation Ceremony and a Lifetime Membership Ceremony at their general meeting on January 28.

The Remembrance Day Ceremony in Vermilion took place at the Cenotaph on November 11, commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the end of WWI, along with veterans and active serving members.

The Vermilion Heritage Museum was thrilled to open for another season on May 22.
This year several new displays are in order as they help celebrate a selection of 100th Anniversaries in Vermilion including the Alberta Teacher’s Association, 100 years since the Spanish Flu, the 1918 Vermilion Fire, the Vermilion Volunteer Fire Department, and the Vermilion Legion.

With great reverence the Royal Canadian Legion celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Field Marshal Alexander Branch No. 11 in Vermilion on May 12.
Festivities included a barbeque at the Legion with displays from the Armed Forces, the Vermilion Legion, and Veteran family members; as well a banquet and dance at the Vermilion Regional Centre.
