With warm weather and a beautiful clear blue sky, the Lloydminster Auto Club which was once known as the Lloydminster & District Antique Auto Club held its 40th Annual Specialty Car Show celebrating their 40th year in existence. The Club holds one show per year and the club’s secretary/treasurer Marvin Kryska who has been a club member for 15-20 years was glad to see the registration numbers pushing over 100. “We have a great turn out from all over. We have a 1940 Blue Chev here that was finished being restored the year the club was founded,” said Kryska who also says he was glad the weather was cooperating. Cole Hopfner and his daughter Raine Hopfner from Lashburn, Saskatchewan was in attendance displaying their 1969 Chev Camaro. “I’m not a member of the club, but I have been attending shows for the past five years,” said Cole Hopfner. Hopfner says that restoring the car was a passion of his because when he was four years old, he always wanted the car. “I enjoy it, it’s not a common thing and it’s nice to have something different. Most of the work on the car was done already, but we have added a bunch more, it seems like it’s never-ending,” said Hopfner, As attendees meandered the rows of specialty vehicles music that was provided by Area 51 Entertainment played in the background. They also had the opportunity to taste homemade ice cream made in an artifact from the Lloydminster Cultural and Science Centre presented by the Barr Colony Heritage Society. The Ice cream unit was purchased brand new from Ohio and had a motor that dated 1935.
