The Vermilion Chamber of Commerce held the 1st Annual Kick-Off to the Vermilion Fair on July 24. Nearly 300 people attended and had the opportunity to sample a chili cook-off, have a meet and greet with chuckwagon drivers, as well as check out various vendors and business participants. “We’re always excited to come to Vermilion (from Camrose). The crowd is awesome here and there are so many things to do at this fair. I’ve done this for five years, and I love being a part of the APCCA circuit because we’re basically just a big family!” said David Vincent who is a circuit man who holds for a bunch of guys in the wagons and is an assistant to last year’s Champion chariot driver Chester Blatz. According to Vincent, the circuit just spent five days in Red Deer, is in Vermilion for three days, and will then head to Prince Albert for another five days. Visiting was as much fun for people as the shopping as everyone was excited for the coming fair, and many who had arrived from out of town were happy to see everyone before the rain set in. “People in the community have wanted a kick-off for a few years, and we decided to take it on. We would like to thank all of the business community that supported us, as well as our vendors for attending,” said Chamber Office Manager, Leanne Martin.
