The Come By The Hills Festival took place on August 16 and 17th at the beautiful Mistahiya hills along the Battle River Valley. There were 12 performances to take in with big names performing. Among them were Angel Forrest, Black Velvet, Dirt Road Angels, El Niven & The Alibi, Funkafeelya, JJ Shiplett, The Northern Pikes, Prairie Sky, The Prairie States, Mr. Rayz, Rosina Cove and Stephan Fearing. Jim Zadorozny mentioned that the crowd persevered through the poor weather conditions and didn’t let it dampen their enjoyment of the shows. He also went on to say that this year’s line up was the best ever and they had more vendors than ever on site as well. New this year was a 50/50 draw worth over $1500. Zadorozny when on to say that some of the surprise performers were El Viven & The Alibi and the Dirt Road Angels who were fantastic Country Music singers. He said The Northern Pikes band has hits going back to the mid 80’s and were the half time entertainment in Calgary for the CFL game recently. Orest Popil commented that the Festival was an excellent event and Bruce MacDuff said, “If the weather cooperated on Friday, that would have been the only way it could be better, all performances were awesome. One of the many volunteers is Todd Aughey, from Wainwright who books all the performers. He commented that he is thrilled to have the talent they have this year and the Festival is getting bigger every year, and all profits will be going into next year’s Festival. Next year’s concert will be the 10th Come By The Hills. Carol Coleman, President of the Come By The Hills Festival said the Festival was awesome even though the weather on Friday slowed down the performance a bit, but true music lovers were in attendance despite it. She went on to say that for such a small event they were able to finalize such great performers and make your festival experience special. They have over 70 volunteers who help to put this great Festival together.
