Mannville Fire Department – Pancake Breakfast

The Mannville Fire Department held their annual Pancake Breakfast on October 12. Approximately 120 people attended the event and enjoyed the opportunity to participate in Fire Prevention Week and support Muscular Dystrophy.

“As a new chief it’s a great way to engage with the community. It’s a great way to meet people and let people get to know my face. Mannville is small, so everything seems kind of personal. It is also a good team-building exercise for us with everyone helping out and it is for a good cause,” said Mannville Fire Chief Trevor Gillis.

According to Gillis, village councillors and County Fire Chief Mike Fundytus attended the event. Children had the opportunity to see the fire trucks and colour activity books. Others viewed emergency social services volunteer information provided by the Village of Mannville’s Emergency Management team. They offered reading material for people to create awarenesss and encourage people to be prepared in the event of an emergency. Should a community emergency occur, they are prepared to organize a reception centre.
