BTPS Leadership Changes

Buffalo Trail Public Schools (BTPS) Students are once again learning at-home after the government announcement that Kindergarten to Grade 12 students will move to at-home learning May 7 - May 25.

“We continue to provide engaging learning opportunities for our students as they learn at home. The government indicated that our Kindergarten to Grade 6 students will focus on literacy and numeracy while at home and our older students will have the same learning opportunities as when they were at school,” stated Superintendent, Rhae-Ann Holoien.

BTPS announced new leaders within schools; Sean Stromberg will be the 2021-2022 Principal for Kitscoty Elementary School (KES). Stromberg is currently the Assistant Principal of KES. He has 13 years of leadership experience within BTPS and prior to his current role, he was the Acting Principal of KES and also Assistant Principal at Wainwright High School (WHS), as well as the Principal of Clandonald. Stromberg is committed to student learning and passionate about literacy and building relationships with students, staff, and families.

Darci MacMillan will be the 2021-2022 Assistant Principal at Mannville School. MacMillan is currently the Assistant Principal of E.H Walter School, and has seven years of education experience with BTPS. MacMillan brings a wealth of experience in Kindergarten to Grade 12 education including work in inclusive learning. MacMillan is passionate about supporting students, staff, and families.

Rachel Miller will be the 2021-2022 Principal of Delnorte-Innisfree. Miller is currently the Principal at KES, and has seven years of leadership experience within BTPS and prior to her current role as Principal; she was the Assistant Principal in both Mannville and KES. She has her Masters of Education Degree in Educational Leadership and is passionate about inclusion. Miller is dedicated to her students and staff, and values community and stakeholder relationships.

Sarah Bergquist will be the 2021-2022 Assistant Principal for KES. Bergquist is currently the Inclusion Teacher at KES and was previously the Acting Assistant Principal. She has six years of education experience with BTPS and a wealth of experience with entrepreneurship. Bergquist brings experience in leadership and inclusive learning to this role. She has built great relationships with students, staff, and families and her student-focused approach is valued by BTPS.

Christine Martens will be the 2021-2022 Assistant Principal for Wainwright Elementary School (WES). Martens is currently the Acting Assistant Principal at WES. She was previously the Grade 4 Teacher and more recently, the Inclusion Teacher. She brings substantial educational experience to her role and will continue to provide amazing support to students, staff and families at WES.
