A little chilly fall weather wasn’t enough to keep people away from the pumpkin patch near Kitscoty on Saturday, Sept. 26, as families bundled up and headed out for an afternoon filled with pumpkins, flowers, food and plenty of fall fun.

Despite the cooler temperatures, the patch saw a steady crowd throughout the day, with visitors wandering through the rows in search of just the right pumpkins to take home. Whether they were looking for the perfect one to carve, something to decorate the front step or pumpkins to turn into pies and other fall baking, there were plenty to choose from.

Of course, picking pumpkins was only part of the afternoon.

A photographer was on site capturing some fall memories, while several other photo areas and props were set up around the property for families to snap a few pictures of their own. With pumpkins, fall colours and country scenery as the backdrop, there were plenty of opportunities to stop for a photo along the way.

Live entertainment added to the afternoon, giving visitors a chance to stop and listen while enjoying the surroundings. With the chill in the air, a small fire pit was also a welcome spot to gather around and warm up for a few minutes before heading back out to explore.

Visitors could browse through vendors, grab something to eat or enjoy a snack and a warm beverage while taking in the afternoon.

For those wanting to bring home a little more colour, the pick-your-own bouquet area offered another popular stop. Guests could wander through the flowers and put together their own bouquet to take home, adding something a little different to the traditional pumpkin patch experience.

Kids explored, families visited and people took their time enjoying everything that had been set up for the day. The cooler weather may have meant an extra sweater or jacket was needed, but it certainly didn’t seem to dampen the turnout.

And, of course, few left empty-handed.

With pumpkins tucked under arms, bouquets in hand and plenty of fall photos taken, visitors headed home stocked up and ready for the season ahead, whether that meant carving jack-o’-lanterns, decorating for fall or getting a head start on some pumpkin baking.
