The Derwent Golden Age Club held their Club Raffle ticket draw on August 31. Each ticket purchased consisted of a 1st place prize of a half of beef cut and wrapped plus a 5 cubic foot deep freeze, the 2nd place prize was a quarter beef cut and wrapped with a 3.5 cubic foot deep freezer, and a 3rd place prize which consisted of a quarter beef cut and wrapped.
The first place winner was Tom Mudryk, second place was Cassandra Bodnar, and third place went to Tony Neilson. Tony Neilson was in attendance for the draw and said, “Thank you, I’m so happy that I won and I am so happy for the success of the raffle.”
President of the Derwent Golden Age Club, Karen Romaniuk expressed her appreciation to all who were involved in the raffle.
“I would like to thank our sponsors Ken and Josie Pashulka from Rusylvia Cattle Co. for the beef sponsorship and for the $500 they donated to the seniors, and Don and Debbie Gulayec of Deeze Farms Ltd. for the freezer sponsorship. I would also like to thank Tony Neilson for his donation and the printing of the tickets for the draw. I want to thank everyone who donated, sold tickets, and bought tickets. It was a great fundraiser for our club and I hope we can do it again next year,” commented Romaniuk.
After a couple of years of not being able to hold events, the club is looking forward to having their events again such as suppers, bake sales etc. They are now able to provide venue rentals again that will follow any COVID restrictions that may be in place.
