Royal Canadian Legion Field Marshall Alexander Branch 11 made a significant move on October 15, 2022 by officially transferring the Lt. Col Craig Armoury to the Lt. Col. Craig Armory Historical Society. With this transfer, the Society assumed responsibility for all operating costs, upgrades, and maintenance of the building.
In a bid to raise funds for much-needed building upgrades and maintenance, the Lt. Col. Craig Armory Historical Society has embarked on an online prize raffle campaign. Utilizing the Rafflebox platform, the Society aims to garner support from the community while offering exciting prizes to participants.
The centerpiece of the raffle is the grand prize: a quarter of mixed (front and back) home-grown grass finished Alberta Beef, perfectly timed for the upcoming BBQ season, with an approximate value of $1300. The second prize mirrors the grand prize, also valued at approximately $1300. Third place will secure a lawnmower and gas generator generously donated by Cornerstone Co-op, valued at around $1198. Lastly, the fourth prize, valued at approximately $900, is a custom knife crafted by JStorch Knives, designed after a WW1 German Trench fighting knife with materials sourced from a WW1 German Krupp 77mm Cannon.
Interested participants can purchase raffle tickets at rafflebox.ca. Simply navigate to the “Find a Raffle” section, type in “LCOL,” and select the drawing icon of the Armoury. Alternatively, interesested participants can scan the provided QR code.
The raffle will run from February 1, 2024, to May 30, 2024, with only 1000 tickets available, so enthusiasts are encouraged to act swiftly to secure their chance at winning.
The primary objective of the raffle is to raise essential funds to facilitate building upgrades and maintenance, ensuring the continued functionality of the Armoury for various community groups. Among the groups benefitting from the facility are the Loyal Edmonton Regiment 2645 Cadet Core, Vermilion Archery Club, and the Kuk Sool Won Martial Arts School, alongside other community organizations utilizing the space through rental arrangements.
The Lt. Col. Craig Armoury stands as a vital hub for community activities and events, and the support garnered through this raffle will undoubtedly contribute to its preservation and continued service to the community for years to come.
