With sunny skies and warm summer temperatures, the Good Life Institute hosted another successful Taste of Vermilion on June 25.
This year’s event, which ran from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., featured a family-friendly format that offered something for everyone. While most activities began later in the afternoon, early risers were treated to a delicious pancake breakfast hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Guests enjoyed fluffy pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, and roasted potato hash browns to start their day off right.
As the evening unfolded, the event came alive with an abundance of activities and entertainment for all ages. Vermilion Is Being Empowered (VIBE) and the Summer Fun Program offered engaging activities such as pinwheel crafts, glitter tattoos, and outdoor games including giant Jenga. Additional attractions included cornhole and free lemonade and popcorn, generously provided by the Vermilion Credit Union and the Real Estate Centre.
From 4 to 8 p.m., animal lovers young and old had the chance to meet and pet friendly animals at the Tilted Tiara Petting Zoo, located in front of Lighten Up Therapy and the Prairie Bistro & Bakeshop.
One of the most anticipated highlights of the event was the Bucket Brigade Water Relay, which began at 4 p.m. Teams competed with enthusiasm and laughter, with the Ireland Farm crew edging out the Webb’s crew for the win.
At 6 p.m., the crowd was treated to a spellbinding magic by David Thiel, a master magician and mentalist who dazzled those he met as he wandered mainstreet with his illusions. Throughout the evening, Sweet Soundz DJ Services kept the energy high and feet dancing with a mix of great music.
Starting at 5 p.m., the “taste” portion of the event truly came to life with an array of culinary offerings from 12 food vendors and four beverage vendors. Attendees had the opportunity to sample mouthwatering dishes from DB Delicious Bites, Zayn’s Diner, Prairie Bistro & Bakeshop, Cornerstone Co-op, Subway, Pizza Hut, Boston Pizza, Booster Juice, The Old School Cheesery, The Red Brick, TU:GO Chicken Café, and White Swan.
Adding a sweet touch to the evening, Fantasy Flowers handed out single flowers to guests, spreading smiles throughout the venue (while supplies last). Local vendors were also onsite selling handmade creations and promoting their services, enhancing the community spirit of the event.
The Taste of Vermilion was more than just a food festival—it was a vibrant celebration of local culture, flavours, and togetherness, creating lasting memories for everyone who attended.
