The Vermilion Chamber kicked off the Christmas season on November 25 with some delicious food, the Light up Parade and some family fun activities on mainstreet which included a chance to see Santa before he got too busy.

A substantial crowd enjoyed the many floats decorated brightly with lights and donned holiday scenes. A visit from good ol’ Santa Claus, who travelled in a side by side was also in the parade this year.

“It was so nice to be able to have a normal parade this year. Last year’s was nice, but the children really enjoyed it this year as they could stand outside and watch the floats go by,” said Lea-anne Fraser.

Attendees eagerly took part in a hot dog sale hosted by Vermilion’s own Junior B Tigers, as well as the chance to make their own s’mores. The Rotary Club of Vermilion was on hand with cookies for sale to raise funds supporting Haying in the 30’s. After the parade, Santa visited for a while on mainstreet which provided visitors of all ages the opportunity to say hi and get pictures taken.

“It was such a wonderful evening, it was nice to see so many people out to enjoy the festivities and see all the happy faces,” commented Santa.
