Fans cheered wildly as the Jr. B. Tigers took on the Wainwright Bisons for Game 3 of their playoff series on February 22, at the Vermilion Stadium.

Horns honked and a wave of jerseys filled the stands showing support for the Vermilion Tigers. Part way through the first period, Eddie May’s goal for Vermilion brought the score to 1 - 1. Lucas Dennill’s goal for the Tigers in the third period brought the score to 2 - 2.

Though the final score was 3 - 2 for Wainwright, Vermilion’s goalie, Dakota Kenyon saved 41 shots while Wainwright’s goalie only saved 13.

Game 4 was played in Vermilion on February 24 with the final score being 6 – 3 for Wainwright. With Vermilion’s season over, they are proud to have fought to the very end and remain hopeful for next year. Scoring for Vermilion was Ryan VanGenderen, Landon Broadhead, and Lucas Dennill.

“The fan’s were wonderful. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen that many people at the rink.

We had 5 midget-aged hockey players dressed for the game who did very well; logging some good playoff minutes. Thinking about recruiting for next year – the future looks bright!

We have 3 graduating players this year; including Captain Rylan Mauws, and Alternate Captains Jared Golinowski and Ian Gadsby. They were 3 of the hardest working players we had all season. Not one of them missed a game. They will be deeply missed by the team as leaders on and off the ice. ” said Coach Ryan Earl.

Ryan VanGenderen takes a penalty shot on Febraury 24.
