New Slice Of Home: Mom’s Pizza Opens In Vermilion

On the morning of June 26, Mary Lee Prior, Economic Development Manager for the Town of Vermilion, and Karen Hughes, Executive Director of the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce, warmly welcomed Abbie and Bryan Willick and family to the community, celebrating the grand opening of their new restaurant, Mom’s Pizza, located in the Vermilion Mall.

Willick, affectionately known as “Mom”, shared her gratitude during the event, saying, “We are very honoured to be recognized by our community.”

Following a successful soft launch on May 10, where they offered pizza by the slice for lunch and began accepting take-out orders, the Willicks are excited for the future.

Originally from Calgary, the family moved to Vermilion in the fall of 2024. The idea for the restaurant was sparked shortly after arriving. Mom spotted a potential space while driving past the mall, and from there, she says, “the rest is history.”

With years of experience in the hospitality industry, opening Mom’s Pizza is a lifelong dream come true for Willick. The restaurant focuses on homemade comfort food rooted in cherished family recipes, and nearly everything is made from scratch.

Their slogan, “Where Everyone is Family,” perfectly captures the warm, welcoming atmosphere they aim to create. Willick hopes Mom’s Pizza will become more than just a place to eat: “We hope to become everyone’s favourite place to socialize and dine. We want our customers to celebrate life’s special moments with us. Our goal is to make sure everyone feels comfortable, valued, and well fed.”

Since their soft opening, the community response has been overwhelmingly positive. Their most popular item so far? The Mom’s Special pizza, a must-try for first-time visitors.

As a proudly family-run business, the Willicks are committed to standing out with quality food and heartfelt customer service. They’ve already begun giving back, recently sponsoring a buckle for the Lakeland College Ranch Scramble, and they have more community initiatives in the works.
