Scotiabank Gives to Armoury Historical Society

The Lt. Col. W. C. Craig Armoury Historical Society received a welcome financial boost on July 10 as Scotiabank Vermilion presented the organization with a $3,000 donation during a cheque presentation at the local branch.

Historical Society President Don Henry, Secretary-Treasurer Jim Storch, and Bob Fisher were on hand to accept the donation from Branch Manager Barb Rozka along with Scotiabank employees Piper Fougere, Jada Gamracey, Tyson Tschauner, and Jenna Betz.

Henry thanked Scotiabank and its staff for their generosity and continued support of the Society’s efforts to preserve and promote the historic Lt. Col. W. C. Craig Armoury.

The donation was made possible through Scotiabank’s Team Community Program, which matches funds raised by employees volunteering in support of community initiatives. Staff members at the Vermilion branch volunteered their time to support fundraising efforts for the Lt. Col. W. C. Craig Armoury Fashion Gala, allowing the fundraiser to qualify for the program’s matching contribution.

“Thanks to the dedication of the employees at Vermilion Scotiabank, the LCOL WC Craig Armory Fashion Gala fundraising efforts received an incredible boost,” said Rozka. “Staff members volunteered their time and support to help raise funds for the event and were able to take advantage of the Scotiabank Team Community Program, which matches the funds raised up to $3,000.”

Rozka said the contribution reflects Scotiabank’s commitment to supporting organizations that make a lasting difference within the community.

“This contribution will help support the Armory and demonstrates our commitment to giving back to our community,” she said.

The donation will assist the Lt. Col. W. C. Craig Armoury Historical Society as it continues its work to preserve the historic building and celebrate the military heritage it represents for Vermilion and the surrounding area.
