The Vermilion Lions Club received a welcome financial boost on August 10 when Scotiabank Vermilion presented the organization with a $3,000 donation during a cheque presentation at the local branch.

Vermilion Lions Club Secretary-Treasurer Peter Clark, club members Hayward Vaters and Lloyd Tovell, and Charity Golf Tournament organizer and Scotiabank employee Tyson Tschauner were on hand to accept the donation from Branch Manager Barb Rozka. Scotiabank employees Sandra Stone, April McPhee, Darby Cusack and Jada Gamracy also took part in the presentation.

Clark thanked Scotiabank and its staff for their generosity and continued support of the club’s fundraising efforts for its annual Charity Golf Tournament.

The donation was made possible through Scotiabank’s Team Community Program, which provides matching funds when employees volunteer their time in support of community initiatives. Staff members at the Vermilion branch volunteered to assist with fundraising efforts surrounding the Lions Club Charity Golf Tournament, allowing the initiative to qualify for the program’s matching contribution.

“Thanks to the dedication of the employees at Vermilion Scotiabank, the Lions Club fundraising efforts received an incredible boost,” said Rozka. “Staff members volunteered their time to support the event by helping accept donations, pass out posters and assist with other behind-the-scenes duties. We were then able to take advantage of the Scotiabank Team Community Program, which matches the funds raised up to $3,000.”

Tschauner echoed Rozka’s sentiments, noting that Scotiabank staff were a tremendous help throughout the golf tournament’s fundraising period.

The $3,000 contribution will further support the Vermilion Lions Club’s fundraising efforts and its ongoing commitment to giving back to the community.
