The Vermilion Roar U15 lacrosse team returned home from Medicine Hat as provincial champions after defeating the Medicine Hat Sun Devils 9-5 in the gold-medal game.

It was the finish the team had worked toward all season, with every practice, game and challenge helping prepare the athletes for the moment they stepped onto the floor with a provincial championship on the line.

The Roar rose to the occasion, combining determination, teamwork and resilience to secure the win and bring the provincial banner home to Vermilion once again.

For the players, the championship was the reward for a season filled with hard work and commitment. For their families, coaches and supporters, it was also a proud reminder of just how much time and effort goes into helping a team reach this level.

Behind every athlete was a network of coaches, parents, sponsors, fans and volunteers who travelled, encouraged, organized and supported the team throughout the season.

That support was felt both in Medicine Hat and back home, as updates from the championship game were followed and celebrated by Roar supporters near and far.

The 9-5 victory capped off an incredible season for the U15 Roar and once again placed Vermilion among the best lacrosse teams in the province.

The celebration will be brief for several members of the team, however, as selected Vermilion Roar players will represent Zone 7 at the Alberta Summer Games this weekend.

After bringing home provincial gold together, those athletes will now have another opportunity to represent Vermilion and northeastern Alberta on a larger stage.

Congratulations to the Vermilion Roar U15 players, coaches and everyone who helped make the championship season possible.
