Wainwright Fall Festival Brings Community Together

A brisk wind and decidedly fall like weather didn't stop families and community members from heading out to CFB Wainwright on Saturday, September 26, for the annual Fall Festival.
Held at the CFB Wainwright Fish Pond from noon to 3 p.m., the event was well attended despite the cooler, windy conditions, with families, individuals and visitors of all ages coming out to enjoy an afternoon of seasonal activities.
The festival offered plenty of ways to embrace the arrival of autumn, with wagon rides, an inflatable corn maze, pumpkin painting and bouncy castles among the activities available throughout the afternoon.
Children could be seen putting their creativity to work decorating pumpkins, making their way through the corn maze, bouncing and playing in the bouncy castle and climbing aboard for a wagon ride. Families moved from one activity to the next, while others simply took the opportunity to spend some time outdoors and enjoy the afternoon.
With the wind adding an extra chill to the air, warm apple cider and hot chocolate were especially fitting additions to the day, giving visitors something warm to enjoy while taking in the festivities.
The Fall Festival is one of several events hosted by CFB Wainwright throughout the year that welcomes members of the surrounding communities onto the base. Events such as the Fall Festival and Canada Day celebrations provide opportunities for military and civilian families, as well as residents from Wainwright and the surrounding area, to come together in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
While Saturday's weather offered a definite reminder that fall has arrived, it didn't appear to dampen the enthusiasm of those who attended. The steady turnout throughout the afternoon showed that a little wind and cool weather weren't enough to keep people from enjoying some fall fun at CFB Wainwright.
