Enjoying the sunshine, approximately 500 people attended Art in the Park in Vermilion on September 7. Visitors enjoyed perusing the different mediums of local artwork including jewellery, pottery, painting, leatherwork, and clothing. People travelled from all over the region to attend The Good Life Institute’s event; some even took in classes, and enjoyed lunch by Lasting Impressions Catering and cinnamon buns at the community oven sponsored by Inter Pipeline.
“What an amazing collection of community artisans! This event helps to create awareness within the community and draws people to our community which is great,” said Mayor, Caroline McAuley.
Inter Pipeline once again sponsored the event through their community outreach program.
“We like supporting this event because it is good for the community, and it is a way to interact and let people know where the industry is going,” said Inter Pipeline’s Dale Ness.
Twenty-three new and returning vendors featured local and area products. Amanda Graf from Lloydminster showcased Real Me Clothing Co. and said, “It’s nice to see events like this in the community. I love meeting people and creating things that speak to people; giving them things they can’t find anywhere else.”
Celtic Jewel Irish Dance instructor, Sidney-Kay Uden, provided live entertainment.
Also sponsored by Inter Pipeline, the Man Van provided free baseline blood tests to create awareness and provide early detection for Prostate Cancer. Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer in Canadian Men. According to prostatecancercenter.ca, one in seven men in Alberta will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and approximately eight men in Alberta die of prostate cancer every week.
