Canada’s young rodeo athletes once again showed there is no shortage of talent coming up through the ranks.
Competitors representing Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, British Columbia and communities across the country came together for the 2026 Canadian High School Rodeo Finals, competing for the chance to leave with one of the biggest honours: the title of Canadian Champion.
Lola Hogg raced to the Barrel Racing championship, while Sawyer Lacey claimed the Pole Bending title. Hadley Schiffner earned top honours in Goat Tying, and Suttyn Volz captured the Breakaway championship.
In the roughstock events, Pacen Hemingson came out on top in Bareback, Chet Meston earned the Saddle Bronc championship, and Tucker Danberg claimed the Bull Riding title.
Levi Pole earned the Canadian championship in Tie Down, while Kayden Williams took top honours in Steer Wrestling.
Team Roping saw Austin Giesbrecht earn the championship on the heading side, with Jardith Giesbrecht taking the heeling title.
The competition stretched beyond the rodeo arena as well. Weston Kenway captured the Boys Cutting championship, while Greta Wurtz earned the Girls Cutting title. Hanna Bedard took top honours in Reined Cowhorse.
Justin Kronschnabl had an impressive showing, earning not one but two Canadian titles with championships in both Light Rifle and Trap Shooting.
Two competitors added the coveted All Around titles to their accomplishments. Greta Wurtz was crowned the 2026 Canadian High School Rodeo All Around Girl, while Weston Kenway earned the title of All Around Boy.
Canadian championships don’t come without a lot of work behind the scenes. These athletes have spent countless hours practising, travelling, caring for their animals and competing throughout the season for the opportunity to reach this level.
At the Canadian Finals, all of that work came down to a handful of rides, runs and shots and these young athletes delivered when it counted.
Congratulations to the 2026 Canadian High School Rodeo Champions. Judging by the talent on display, Canadian rodeo fans will likely be hearing many of these names again.
