Cenovus Energy invested $2 million in Lakeland College to enhance student learning spaces and expand programming aimed at building the region’s future workforce.

The funding supported upgrades to the Cenovus Energy Production Lab and Power Engineering Lab at the Lloydminster campus, while also modernizing student learning spaces within the School of Trades and Technology at the Vermilion campus.

The investment extended beyond physical spaces, opening new pathways for students through expanded dual credit programming. A new energy course in Lakeland’s School of Energy and an electrical course in the School of Trades and Technology allowed high school students to begin earning post secondary credits while completing their secondary education, offering an early step into careers in the energy and trades sectors.
