Classic Rock Kicks Off Vermilion Allied Arts Season

The sounds of classic rock took centre stage at Lakeland College Alumni Hall on October 17 as the Vermilion Allied Arts Council kicked off its new season of live entertainment with Canadian musician El Niven.
The evening’s performance, The Golden Era of Rock & Roll, brought the music of the 1960s and 1970s back into the spotlight, celebrating the legendary artists and unforgettable sounds that have entertained generations of music lovers.
Niven, an Edmonton-based singer and guitarist, delivered a musical tribute to the golden age of rock and roll, drawing inspiration from artists such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
With his powerful vocals, gritty guitar playing and energetic performance style, Niven is known for capturing the spirit of classic rock, particularly the unmistakable sound of Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty.
The concert built on Niven’s successful production, The Story of Creedence Clearwater Revival, expanding the musical experience to include favourites from other influential bands of the era.
For many music lovers, the songs of that generation remain as familiar today as they were decades ago, making classic rock performances an opportunity to revisit the music and memories of years gone by.
The concert also marked the beginning of another season for the Vermilion Allied Arts Council, an organization that continues to provide opportunities for residents to enjoy live music and entertainment close to home.
Through its performances, the council brings a variety of musical styles and talented entertainers to Vermilion, contributing to the community’s arts and cultural scene.
The performance served as the opening event of the council’s new season, with more live entertainment to follow in the months ahead.
