The Vermilion Jr. B Tigers continued their strong start to the 2026–27 North Eastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League season, picking up two more victories on October 15 and 16, while also announcing their leadership team for the season.

The Tigers welcomed the St. Paul Canadiens on Thursday, October 15, putting on an impressive offensive performance that ended in a 9–1 victory.

Austin Siewert opened the scoring for Vermilion, assisted by Jaxson Toutant and Alex Hill. St. Paul answered late in the first period, sending the teams into the intermission tied 1–1.

The second period was all Tigers as they found the back of the net five times. Dalin Hannah got things started, followed by Caden Anderson, Dannon Pavka, Siewert and another from Pavka. The Tigers took full advantage of their opportunities, including two power-play goals, to build a commanding 6–1 lead.

Vermilion continued to control the game in the third, with Jared Cadieux adding another power-play goal before Hannah scored twice more to complete his hat trick and seal the 9–1 win.

Hannah finished the night with three goals, while Siewert and Pavka each contributed two. Kaden Davidson also had an impressive game, collecting five assists.

Adding to Thursday’s home game festivities were Mini Tigers Hudson and Rose Snider, while Siewert and Hannah were recognized as the College Park Motors Chevrolet Buick GMC Players of the Game.

The Tigers were back on the ice Friday, October 16, this time taking on the Cold Lake Ice.

Vermilion wasted little time taking control, scoring three unanswered goals in the opening period. Toutant got things started with help from Gage Haygarth, followed by Davidson, assisted by Pavka and Hannah. Hannah added the third goal of the period, with assists from Hill and Gavin Folden.

Hannah continued his scoring streak early in the second, finding the back of the net again with help from Pavka and Landon Malka.

Cold Lake managed to get on the scoreboard later in the period with a goal from Louis Dubray, cutting Vermilion’s lead to 4–1.

The Ice came out looking to close the gap in the third, with Nate Higgins scoring to bring them within two. However, the Tigers weren’t about to let the game slip away, and Jack Teasdale added another goal, assisted by Toutant, securing a 5–2 victory.

Hannah had another strong night with two goals and an assist, helping the Tigers complete a successful two-game stretch.

Friday night’s game also featured Mini Tigers Cruz Snelgrove and Karson Elgie, who joined in the home game festivities. Jared Cadieux was named the College Park Motors Chevrolet Buick GMC Player of the Game, while Parker Roppelt earned Hardest Worker honours for his efforts on the ice.

The Tigers also announced their leadership team for the 2026–27 season, naming Dannon Pavka as captain. Joining him as assistant captains are Jaxson Toutant, Gage Haygarth, Caden Anderson and Rogan MacNab.

With the two victories, the Tigers improved their early-season record to four wins and one loss, giving fans plenty to look forward to as the season continues.
