International Credit Union Day Celebrated In Vermilion

Staff from the Vermilion and Mannville Credit Union branches came together at the Vermilion location on October 15 to celebrate International Credit Union Day, welcoming members and visitors for a day of treats, appreciation and community spirit.
The celebration brought staff from both branches together under one roof, as the Mannville branch remains temporarily closed after sustaining significant damage during an attempted break-in. In the meantime, Mannville staff are operating out of the Vermilion branch, continuing to serve their members.
Observed annually on the third Thursday in October, International Credit Union Day has been celebrated since 1948. The occasion recognizes the history and achievements of the credit union movement while acknowledging the important role credit unions play in supporting their members and strengthening communities around the world.
Visitors were treated to carrot cake and cinnamon buns from Cornerstone Co-op in Vermilion, along with coffee, juice and water. Adding a little extra sweetness to the celebration was Grade 8 student Beaudon Rose of Cotton Candy Deluxe, who was on hand spinning fresh cotton candy for guests to enjoy.
Members and visitors also had the opportunity to enter a door prize draw for a swag basket filled with culinary items, while complimentary 2027 Credit Union calendars were available to take home.
The celebration provided an opportunity for staff to connect with members outside of their everyday banking activities and express appreciation for the continued support of the communities they serve.
For the Mannville staff, the gathering also offered a chance to celebrate alongside their Vermilion colleagues during a challenging period for their branch.
International Credit Union Day serves as a reminder that credit unions are about more than financial services. Built on the principles of cooperation, community involvement and member support, they continue to play an important role in the towns and rural communities they serve.
This year’s celebration in Vermilion reflected those values, bringing staff and members together for a day of appreciation, connection and community spirit.
