Community members gathered on June 6 to celebrate the official grand opening and naming of Vermilion’s newest toddler playground, now known as The Good Neighbour Park.

The celebration, which also coincided with Neighbour Day festivities, welcomed members of the Vermilion Lions Club, Vermilion Rotary Club, Vermilion Wellness Coalition, FCSS, Rural Mental Health, local dignitaries, volunteers, families, and residents to the playground site located across from the Parkview Alliance Church.

The event ran from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and featured free hot dogs, watermelon, cookies, and water for attendees. Lawn games were also available for families to enjoy throughout the afternoon. The lunch and activities were made possible through support from the Vermilion Wellness Coalition, Rural Mental Health,VIBE, and Cornerstone Co-op, which donated the BBQ, cookies and picnic tables.
