Senior Centre Holds Monthly Pancake Breakfast

The Vermilion Senior Centre was bustling with activity on Sunday, September 13, as community members gathered for the centre’s monthly pancake breakfast.
For just $10 per plate, guests enjoyed a hearty breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, oven-roasted pork sausages and orange slices, along with their choice of tea, coffee or juice.
The monthly breakfast is more than an opportunity to enjoy a meal and visit with friends and neighbours. Proceeds remaining after expenses help support the operation, maintenance and repairs of the Vermilion Senior Centre.
The centre relies on revenue generated through its activities, programs and facility rentals, making community events such as the pancake breakfast an important fundraiser.
Following Sunday’s breakfast, Karen Gray shared her appreciation for both those who attended and the volunteers who helped make the morning a success.
“Wow! Another successful pancake breakfast. It looks like we fed about 160. Nobody went home hungry. Lots of friendly faces and visiting,” Gray said.
She also thanked those who gave their time to help prepare, serve and make the breakfast possible.
“Thanks so much to all those who volunteered their time. It can’t happen without you,” she said.
With Thanksgiving falling in October, the Senior Centre will adjust the date of its next monthly breakfast. Rather than holding it on its usual weekend, the next pancake breakfast will take place on Sunday, October 18.
After another busy morning of food, conversation and community spirit, Gray extended an invitation for residents to return next month, adding, “Hope to see you all there.”
