The team at Vermilion’s Shoppers Drug Mart has been demonstrating what true community spirit looks like, hosting a series of fundraising events in support of the Lois Hole Hospital for Women.

Among the recent initiatives were a staff paint night, followed by a second community paint night held on March 27 at the Vermilion Public Library. Participants gathered to create artwork under the guidance of instructor Monica To, enjoying an opportunity to connect socially while contributing to a meaningful cause.

Not even the weather could dampen their efforts. On April 15, the store hosted a barbecue fundraiser despite a heavy overnight snowfall that left approximately 15 centimetres of wet snow on the ground. The team’s determination to carry on highlighted the strong commitment of staff and volunteers to supporting women’s health.

Through these three events, approximately $1,500 was raised. The funds will go toward the Shoppers Foundation for Women’s Health, which supports women’s health initiatives in Edmonton through local grants, mental health programming, and shelter funding. The foundation has set a goal of investing $50 million by 2026 to advance health equity, includingsupport for the Lois Hole Hospital for Women and regional menstrual equity programs.

On May 23, franchise owner Denise Williamson and her team will travel to Edmonton to take part in the Shoppers Drug Mart Run for Women, a major springtime 5K/10K event supporting women’s mental health, with proceeds benefiting the Lois Hole Hospital for Women at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
